They say that when Nandi played the Mridang during Lord Shiva’s Tandava, the entire cosmos reverberated with the divine rhythm of the instrument befitting the Gods. We at IIM Indore, have set out to recreate that same effect all across the country with the second edition of our cultural festival, Mridang 2011. Events like Laavanya - Fashion, Distortion - Battle of the Bands, Lasya - Choreography, Cult Icon - Search for the ultimate entertainer, Kaayamanan - Treasure Hunt, Akriti - Arts, Dhwani - Vocals, Sutra - Quizzes & Literary events give the participants a great platform to showcase their talent and walk away with mouthwatering prizes. And for those who do not think they are talented enough, there is Hurdang - Spot, Fun events, Arena - Gaming, Jashn - Starnite, Engage - Guest Speaker Series, War of DJs and lots more to keep them on their toes.
Mridang 2010 was graced by the presence of the Gulaal team, leading theatre and film personality Piyush Mishra, renowned documentary film maker Anand Patwardhan, emerging new talent in the field of fashion and film photography Nigam Bomzan, famous UTV-Bindass VJ Aalya Khan, and talented scriptwriter Aparnaa Malhotra holding interactive sessions and judging events.

Legend has it that Brahma created dance so that the ordinary mortals could understand the scriptures better. Lord Shiva described the cosmic process of creation and destruction through his “tandav” and Goddess Parvati responded with graceful and fluid “Lasya”. Through the ages dancers and artists have given their interpretations of the epics and stories and in this event we ask the artists to depict a theme or story through dance in the same way.
Lasya gives a chance to each one of us to explore and nurture our talents either in the form of a solo or a group dances. It is a one stop that allows you to let your hair down and be the free spirit you have always wanted to be!! Lasya gives you an opportunity of a lifetime where you can not only compete, but interact with eminent dancers, and be judged by the best! We are calling dancers of all dance forms to live their dreams and be a part of one of the most awaited events of Mridang.
Come, be part of this cultural revival at Mridang

Event Description:
"We dance for laughter, we dance for tears, we dance for madness, we dance for fears, we dance for hopes, we dance for screams, we are the dancers, we create the dreams."
A Dancer believes that his art has something to say which cannot be expressed in words or in any other way. There are times when the simple dignity of movement can fulfil the function of a volume of words. There are movements which impinge upon the nerves with a strength that is incomparable, for movement has power to stir the senses and emotions, unique in itself. This is the dancer's justification for being, and his reason for searching further for deeper aspects of his art.
So, all you dancers out there, we provide you a platform to dance with all the might of your body, and all the fire of your soul, in order that you may shake all melancholy out of yourself.
